Ready CT and HHC Empower the Next Generation of Healthcare Workers

October 03, 2025

Hartford HealthCare and ReadyCT held the Create Your Path: Careers in HealthCare Summit at Hartford Hospital on Friday, Oct. 3 offering 60 students from Hartford Public, East Hartford, New Britain, and Norwich Free Academy a full day of immersive, hands-on exposure to careers across the health care field.

Organized in collaboration with ReadyCT’s Allied Health Program, the summit aims to spark student interest in health professions and equip them with foundational skills that support future career success.

“Through our collaboration, we equip students with essential skills, such as CPR, First Aid, and job readiness. Starting with one school four years ago, we are excited to expand our impact to four schools for the upcoming academic year,” said Shannon Marimon, Executive Director of ReadyCT.

Participants rotated through two interactive workshops designed to showcase both clinical and emergency medicine pathways:

  • Inside the OR: Surgical & Tech Pathways
Leveraging the Hartford HealthCare Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation (CESI), students were introduced to perioperative roles such as surgical technologists and sterile processing. They got hands-on practice with tools and workflows used in operating rooms.
  • On the Frontlines: Emergency Medicine in Action
Through the Hartford HealthCare LIFE STAR program and EMS network, students explored emergency medical services. They participated in Stop the Bleed and CPR training—simulating front-line responses to real emergencies.
