So impressed with Dr Duckworth. I was her last patient for the day and I have a feeling she stayed later than she was Intending to. She was the first dr I spoke to since my current diagnosis (transferred from another cancer center) and she was so thorough, thoughtful and caring. She wrote everything down for me so I could take the notes home. She patiently answered my many questions and gave me her phone number for the future. I know I am in great hands now and am so happy I switched to her.

I have wanted to share what I think of Dr Duckworth for a while now. A cancer diagnosis is never good but having Dr Duckworth as my surgeon made it memorable in a positive way. She is the most caring accessible capable surgeon that I have ever dealt with. And even if she is the only breast surgeon I have ever dealt with I feel absolutely BLESSED to have her as my dr. In fact my whole experience with Hartford Healthcare during this journey as excellent. However Dr Duckworth stands out. Please continue to maintain your high professional but caring working environment for your employees. Your patients like me are greatly appreciative.

Dr.Duckworth is excellent. She's already knowledgeable of why I'm there to see her, she's very thorough in all she does, from inquiring and concern of how I feel and how I've been since my last visit. She goes over any results of tests and examination, she explains the plan of action with elaboration if needed. I rest very assured that she will help me to get to the best health possible. I would most definitely recommend her as a care provider to anyone who may be in need of her services.

Being my first time seeing a breast surgeon I was nervous and scared. Upon entering the building, everyone was very friendly. They helped me locate the office. Check in was quick. The MA made me aware of a potential wait but it wasn’t long at all. Dr. Duckworth was amazing. I was taken back on how friendly and easy to talk to she was. Definitely put my mind at ease.

I truly love how down to earth she is and understands whats going on with my body. however, I don’t like their blood pressure machines every time I go it’s extremely high Yeah, it’s never high anywhere else they need to get rid of of those machines.

Dr. Duckworth is a great doctor. She really cares about her patients. She even gave me her cell phone # so anytime I have a question I just text her and she texts back right away with the answer( I never had a doctor that do that). She explains everything in such a way that you really understand it. She takes her time explaining everything and answering any questions that I might have. I never felt like I was being hurried. So very fortunate to have her. I highly recommend her.

Bio

Dr. April Duckworth is a breast oncology surgeon at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Dr. Duckworth completed a fellowship in breast surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and specializes in all aspects of breast surgery for benign breast disease and breast cancer.

She earned her medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed her residency in general surgery at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn. She completed a research year at the New York University Institute of Research in Plastic Surgery.
